Sam’s Club, Waterslides & Mud Pits: A Summer Story
One thing you’ll quickly learn about me—I love Sam’s Club. Like, borderline obsessed. People always joke that I should be a brand rep because I can sell anyone on their stuff. A few years ago, I bought the “My First Waterslide” and my kids were obsessed. Sadly, rats got into the container and chewed it to pieces. Lesson learned: don’t pull on the jumpy-lift the jumpy or you’ll separate the container. Hundreds of dollars, gone.
This year, I was determined to redeem myself, so I did what any reasonable mom would do… I bought another one with 3 slides. One for each kid—because sharing? Not in this heat. I even go down them myself (and yes, they hold up).
So we had a scorcher of a day and I thought, This is it. The perfect summer day. I rolled out the waterslides, packed a little patio picnic, and brought out the monster trucks to race down the slide. But suddenly… the trucks were gone. I looked around, confused—until I looked down.

Apparently, we’d left the hose running from watering the plants earlier… and they found a little mud pit. The kids ditched the slide and went straight into the mud. Not quite the picture-perfect day I imagined, but honestly? They had the best time.

Sometimes, you plan a fun summer day, and your kids take a wild left turn. And that’s okay. I hosed them off outside and called it a win.
Sam’s club tip– their stuff usually goes on sale. The water slide was originally $349.98 and I got it $100 off! Be patient and keep checking their site, if you want something cheaper.
