DIY Home Depot Kids Workshop at Home

Busy weekend? Don’t skip the fun—bring your Home Depot Kids Workshop home! This month we didn’t have time to build at the store. I worked that morning, dropped the kids at my in-laws, picked them up, and decided we’d do it on our own schedule.

The best part? You can still grab your free Home Depot kids craft kit and set it up wherever you want. We spread out an old cloth in the backyard, let the kids choose snacks and drinks, and took our time. This month’s project was a Space Odyssey kit—my 6-year-old built the box almost entirely on his own! Of course, we still painted everything (because painting is always the big hit).

Whether you’re avoiding crowds, have a busy schedule, or just want a more relaxed vibe, doing the Home Depot workshop at home is just as fun—and sometimes even better!

The only rule I have for doing the Home Depot kids workshop at home? The kids must wear their adorable little orange Home Depot aprons while they build. It’s non-negotiable—they make the whole thing feel official (and they’re just too cute not to!).
